Shree Panchakanya Basic School was established in 2050 B.S. which is located in Melamchi municipality-15, Jyamire Chamkhu. It is populated by people from the Tamang community. There are roughly 160 households with around 900 inhabitants.
Shree Panchakanya Basic School is located away from the village center but easily accessible. The
The school was badly damaged by the earthquake, so the villagers have identified a new place on a flat peice of land to rebuild their new school. The school runs from grade 1 to grade 5 along with Nursery and Kindergarten and has around 121 students supported by 6 teachers. The children use English textbooks but are usually instructed in Nepali. After the students complete grade 5 at the local school, they walk around 30-45 minutes across to either Shree Janata Secondary Schoo or one hour to Melamchipul Bazar to continue their studies.
HELP started working with the school in 2014 AD, just before the school when we helped the school install new drinking water funded by one our past voluteers, Mr. Pal Ranhiem from Norway.
