Pating is located on a terraced hill at around 2000m and is populated by people from the Tamang community, as well as a small percentage of people from Dalit blacksmith and goldsmith communities. The school’s catchment area has roughly 300 households with around 2000 inhabitants.

Shree Pating Basic School was established in 2047 B.S. and is situated in the centre of the village. The school runs from grade 1 to grade 8 along with ECD and has 9 teachers for around 250 children, almost all of whom come from the within the village. Most of the textbooks are in Nepali, and the children are mostly instructed in Nepali. After completing grade 8 in the village school, the children continue their studies up to SLC at Shree Mahendra Higher Secondary School, Suparitar (Lower Ichowk)- 2 hours gradual downhill from the village. For Plus 2, the students either continue at Mahendra School or move to Kathmandu.

HELP started working with the school in 2012 AD soon after the school participated in the First Himalayan Olympics.
